Task Forces

Pope Francis raised climate change to global consciousness as the defining moral issue of our time. As a result, the Church has become a global voice urging political accountability and personal responsibility for healing the planet. Building on his legacy, Pope Leo vigorously calls for urgent climate action and emphasizes reimagining nature not as an object to be dominated, but a respected participant in a reciprocal relationship with humanity.

UNIJES presents the results of a survey conducted among faculty members at its six universities regarding the use of generative artificial intelligence tools in teaching and research. The study, which involved 681 faculty members, provides a comprehensive overview of the integration of AI into higher education, analyzing both its main applications and potential, as well as the pedagogical, ethical, and academic challenges it currently poses in the university context.

The conveners of ten working groups of the International Association of Jesuit Universities (IAJU) met for the first time in Rome from December 15 to 16 with the aim of fostering collaboration and aligning efforts towards a common vision: Jesuit universities as agents of social transformation in a world that desperately needs it.

In a world still marked by inequality, environmental degradation, and social fragmentation, the Inspirational Paradigm (IP) for Jesuit Business Education stands as a bold and hopeful response.

The IAJES Infrastructure Task Force continues to drive academic collaboration and innovation in areas crucial to sustainable development: earthquake-resistant buildings, smart Cities and logistics 4.0, and drinking water production. Since its creation in 2019, the task force has generated educational materials, research outputs, and technology transfer opportunities to be shared across Jesuit universities worldwide.

The IAJU Task Force for Peace and Reconciliation fosters collaboration among Jesuit institutions on global peace projects through the ReconciliaNet network. A key project is the GeoVisor database, which currently maps 69 global initiatives.

On April 24th, the Laboratory for Peace with Reconciliation (ReconciLAB), an initiative of the Jesuit University System (SUJ), presented the book and agenda titled "Alternativas hacia la paz con reconciliación". The project emerged following the tragic murder of Jesuit priests Javier Campos S.J. and Joaquín Mora S.J., as well as the guide Pedro Palma, in June 2022. The murder motivated the creation of a space for analysis and formulation of public policies focused on violence, justice, and peacebuilding.

Durante el año académico 2021-22, 31 estudiantes de 19 universidades de 16 países exploraron esta pregunta a través del Programa de Becas de Ciudadanía Global de la IAJU.

El Grupo de Trabajo de la IAJU sobre la Solidaridad con los Migrantes y los Refugiados abordó esta urgente cuestión durante su panel del jueves por la tarde en la Asamblea de la IAJU de 2022.

Durante casi 500 años, la Compañía de Jesús se ha dedicado a una misión de reconciliación. Para abrir el panel del Grupo de Trabajo sobre la Paz y la Reconciliación durante la Asamblea de la IAJU de 2022, el P. Elías López Pérez, S.J., de la Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (España), formuló una pregunta orientadora: ¿Estamos preparados para construir puentes de reconciliación a través de una revolución de la bondad?
