In consonance with the 2019 Amazon Synod’s recommendation and answering indigenous communities’ call, the Programa Universitario Amazónico (PUAM) and JWL are joining efforts to serve indigenous communities of the Amazon basin through quality and transformative higher education programmes.

The International Association of Jesuit Engineering Schools (IAJES), a global leader in fostering a new generation of engineers and scientists rooted in the Jesuit mission, announces its inaugural Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on November 10-11, 2023.

During the meeting held last year at Boston College and following the calls made by the General of the Society of Jesus, Fr. Arturo Sosa, SJ, the International Association of Jesuit Universities (IAJU), commissioned the creation of an International Working Group for the promotion of democracy, which is headed by Dr. Luis Arriaga, SJ.

In the last few months, the Discerning Leadership Program was offered to over 100 leaders from various countries across Asia. The program had two formations in Bangalore, India, for 70 religious leaders, among whom there were 38 men and 32 women from India and Nepal.

On March 16, 2023, Loyola Chicago’s annual Climate Change Conference examined how climate change impacts global human migration. Nearly 300 people gathered on campus for the event, and almost 400 tuned in virtually. Steve Bynum of Chicago Public Media served as the moderator.

Held from March 22 to 24 at the United Nations headquarters (New York), the Water 2023 Conference sought to generate commitments from UN Member States and other stakeholders through proposals and solutions to advance the Water Action Agenda as a way to achieve the sixth goal of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: Clean Water and Sanitation.

The Great Celebration for the 80th Anniversary of our IBERO was full of emotion and ovations, with a community very happy to gather around this significant commemoration, to the rhythm of a Symphony Orchestra of Minería that, at different times, brought the audience to their feet in the esplanade of the Iberoamericana, to burst into long periods of applause

Magis Exchange is an innovative exchange program of the International Association of Jesuit Universities (IAJU), designed to help young people discern their role as agents of global change by encouraging leadership and reflection on current social and environmental issues. The program has gained significant traction since its launch in 2019, with more than 80 students having undergone this transformative experience.

One of the goals of IAJES agreed in the meeting at Cali, Colombia in 2019 is to encourage the collaboration and learning among students at Jesuit universities. To do so, a working group was created with the goal of proposing student projects aimed to promote collaborative work and learning among them.

The Beijing Center for Chinese Studies (TBC) has formally opened its first satellite site inside Mainland China. The Kunming Liya Center, or 昆明理雅学苑, is located in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan, one of China’s southern provinces, bordering Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam. Kunming is often referred to as the City of Eternal Spring for its fair climate and lush biodiversity.
