In accordance with the provisions of the IAJES Roadman 2022-2024, to promote collaboration and partnerships between universities and within each IAJU region, it was decided to hold regional biennial meetings. The first regional meeting of the engineering schools that are part of the Association of Universities Entrusted to the Society of Jesus in Latin America (AUSJAL), will take place at ITESO University, in Guadalajara Mexico, from July 5 to 7, 2023.

The objective of this first meeting is to reinforce the basis of collaboration between the Engineering Schools of the universities of the region, to promote the participation of its members in the activities of IAJES, facilitate the integration into the established task forces, as well as agreeing on specific activities to be carried out as a region for the promotion of a new generation of engineers, scientists, and researchers, rooted in the spirit of the Jesuit mission and Universal Apostolic Preferences.

The meeting is aimed at university representatives, deans, and authorities of the 31 universities of the region, encompassing 14 countries. Under the slogan Science and innovation at the service of people, the meeting focuses on the possibilities of action of engineering education in various fields. The event is composed of three moments, one for each day:

  1. Learn about each of the engineering schools that constitute the region, as well as the undergoing activities of IAJES and its network.
  2. Explore forms of integration and collaboration in the different task forces.
  3. Connect and agree on action plans for specific projects to be carried out regionally.

There will be talks on spirituality and ethics in engineering, as well as the presentation of cases of good practice in our universities. The objective is to meet, get to know each other, and strengthen the network that is gradually being built.
