Empowering Young Leaders for Global Change
Magis Exchange is an innovative exchange program of the International Association of Jesuit Universities (IAJU), designed to help young people discern their role as agents of global change by encouraging leadership and reflection on current social and environmental issues. The program has gained significant traction since its launch in 2019, with more than 80 students having undergone this transformative experience. Seven new universities from different continents, including Comillas Pontifical University (Spain), Munich School of Philosophy (Germany), Scranton University (United States), Catholic University of Cordoba (Argentina), Universidad Iberoamericana de Leon (Mexico), Arrupe Jesuit University (Zimbabwe), and Xaviers University-Ateneo de Cagayan (Philippines), have joined the program. Additionally, six other universities are currently in the process of joining Magis Exchange.
Following the pilot phase, the Magis Task Force requested the Coordination Office to conduct in-depth research with participating institutions to identify areas for future improvement and development. The findings of this research effort have highlighted important opportunities to ensure that Magis Exchange continues to provide a transformative experience for participants and reaches more young people. Watch the inspiring stories of some of the Magis students and the positive impact the program has had on their lives and contexts in this video.
Finally, Magis Exchange is a commitment to shaping a better society and developing the next world leaders, who, in the Ignatian style, are dedicated to changing the most unjust, disadvantaged, and vulnerable realities for the better.
