Global meetings

The Seville Campus of Loyola University hosted the International Education Conference IAJU 2022, which brought together more than a hundred representatives of Jesuit universities from 28 countries around the world.

Pope Francis’ environmental encyclical, Laudato Si’, called all of us to take concrete steps to care for our common home. This enlivened the Society of Jesus’ commitment to environmental justice and sustainability, which was a key focus during the 2010 Mexico City meeting of Jesuit college and university presidents from across the world.

El viernes por la tarde, los participantes en la Asamblea de la IAJU de 2022 se reunieron en grupos de trabajo para colaborar con los grupos de trabajo y los facilitadores de otros programas innovadores presentados en la Asamblea. El objetivo de esta sesión era reflexionar sobre el trabajo realizado y las aspiraciones futuras de cada iniciativa, y discernir pasos concretos para promover su misión.

On Friday afternoon, the 2022 IAJU Assembly participants gathered in breakout groups to engage with the Task Forces and facilitators of other innovative programs presented at the Assembly. The goal of this session was to reflect on the past work and future aspirations of each initiative, and to discern concrete steps to further their mission.

The 2022 IAJU Assembly pre-conference workshop, “In the Face of Crisis: Democracy and Fragility Around the World,” took place on Wednesday, August 3. The two-part workshop introduced the Democracy Observatory Project and reviewed the state of democracy in each of the six regions comprising IAJU.

El pasado miércoles 3 de agosto, la Asamblea de la Asociación Internacional de Universidades Jesuitas (IAJU) 2022 comenzó oficialmente con una misa inaugural celebrada por el Cardenal Seán Patrick O'Malley, Arzobispo de Boston, en la Iglesia de San Ignacio.

During the 2021-22 academic year, 31 students from 19 universities in 16 countries explored this question through the IAJU Global Citizenship Fellows Program.
