In response to the need for Africans to take ownership of their history, the Jesuit Historical Institute in Africa (JHIA) was founded in 2010 by Fr. Adolfo Nicolás, S.J.
The AJCU-AM Assembly, held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, brought together leaders from Jesuit universities across Africa to strengthen collaboration and discuss the future of Jesuit higher education in the region.
The Xavier Institute of Engineering (XIE) in Mumbai is actively collaborating with his sisters' Jesuit universities in Africa, including Arrupe Jesuit University in Zimbabwe and Koshyam Jesuit University of Science in Burkina Faso.
On the 31st of July 2023, the North-West Africa Province (ANW) of the Society of Jesus signed an MoU with the Jesuit Worldwide Learning (JWL) for higher education at the margins.
