This Sunday, the Catholic Church will mark the 2019 World Day of Migrants and Refugees. In commemoration of the day, the Jesuit Conference of Canada and the United States (together with the Jesuit Provincials) have issued a letter inviting all members of the Ignatian family to advocate on behalf of migrants and refugees. Visit jesuitmigrantsolidarity.org to learn more.

Examples of commemoration include reflections from the president of Fordham University, intentions during Sunday Mass at Loyola Marymount University, and an online prayer guide from Xavier University. Here at AJCU, our Migration Research Directory continues to grow and serves as a resource for faculty and staff to connect with each other and collaborate on migration research initiatives.

The past week has seen a number of students demonstrating against climate change, including groups from Regis University, the University of Detroit Mercyand the University of San Francisco (more photos can be seen in a recap from the Ignatian Solidarity Network). In related news, Gonzaga University hosted a lecture on 'Ethics in a Time of Climate Change'; Loyola University New Orleanspartnered with a local high school to host an environmental forum; new research from Georgetown University shows that the United States and Canada have lost one in every four birds over the past five decades; and a Loyola University Chicago professor's research on pollution was featured in The Chicago Tribune.
