June 8 - 25, 2021
The Commitment to Justice in Jesuit Higher Education conference series has its foundation in a national gathering of US Jesuit university faculty, staff, administrators and board members at Santa Clara University in October 2000. There, Fr. Peter-Hans Kolvenbach, S.J., Superior General of the Society of Jesus, delivered an address calling Jesuit higher education leaders to integrate the mission of the “service of faith and the promotion of justice” more deeply into the teaching, scholarship, and institutional life of each college and university.
On behalf of the National Steering Committee, welcome to the 20th +1 anniversary conference of the Commitment to Justice in Higher Education gathering. While we can not gather together in person, we hope that our creation of permanent resources of the six plenaries and talk-back sessions and repository of poster presentations provide meaningful opportunities for learning and reflection in this Ignatius 500 year and beyond.
The following plenary sessions will prioritize a focus on the Universal Apostolic Preferences and the following themes: Racial Justice; Immigrant Justice; Ignatian Spirituality and Justice; Environmental Justice; and Women’s Leadership in Higher Education.
Tuesday, June 8 and Thursday, June 10
Monday June 14 and Wednesday, June 16
Tuesday, June 22 and Thursday, June 24
